Answers to common questions about smart home automation, installation, costs, platforms, timelines, and long-term support for Park City and Salt Lake City homes.
About Smart Home Automation
Smart home automation is an integrated system where lighting, climate, security, entertainment, and shading are connected and respond automatically to your routines, time of day, and occupancy. Instead of managing separate apps and devices, you control everything from one interface or let the system handle it for you.
A smart home integrator designs, installs, programs, and supports comprehensive automation systems. Unlike a retailer that sells devices, an integrator engineers a system where every component works together, tailors it to your lifestyle, and supports it long term.
Investment varies significantly based on home size, system scope, and platform. A focused lighting and shading system for key areas typically starts in the low five figures, while a comprehensive whole-home system for a large estate reflects the scale and complexity of the project. We provide itemized proposals after discovery.
Focused systems such as lighting control in a new home often take two to four weeks from start to finish. Larger projects with theater, audio distribution, security, and shading can span several months in coordination with renovation or construction timelines.
Yes. Wireless lighting control, battery-powered motorized shades, network-based audio/video distribution, and wireless security sensors allow us to retrofit comprehensive automation without major construction. We evaluate the existing infrastructure and recommend the cleanest approach.
Platforms & Technology
We are certified integrators for Control4, Savant, and Crestron. We also work extensively with Lutron, Vantage, and Basalte for lighting control, and Sony, Sonos, McIntosh, and Sonus faber for audio/video.
Neither is universally better. Control4 excels at scalability and broad integration for large homes, Savant prioritizes luxury interface design and audio/video performance, and Crestron offers the deepest customization. We recommend the platform that fits your home, not the one with the best margin.
New construction benefits from pre-wiring for lighting control, audio/video distribution, security, and network infrastructure before walls are closed. For existing homes, wireless solutions are available for most systems. We evaluate the home and recommend the appropriate path.
Local control functions such as lighting, shades, security, and climate continue to operate on the internal network even without internet. Cloud-based features like remote access and streaming may be temporarily limited. We design critical functions with local redundancy in mind.
Services & Installation
We design and install smart home automation, home theater systems, lighting control, motorized shades, home security and surveillance, whole-home audio/video distribution, and enterprise-grade networking. We also provide ongoing service and support for every system we install.
Yes. We regularly collaborate with builders, architects, and interior designers during design and construction. Early involvement lets us pre-wire for clean, invisible installation and coordinate lighting, shading, and technology with the overall design.
Our home theater installations include display selection and mounting, surround sound speaker installation, acoustic treatment, lighting control for viewing, seating coordination, climate and noise isolation, and full integration with your smart home system. Every theater is custom-designed for the specific room and your preferences.
Yes. Battery-powered motorized shades require no wiring and can be installed in finished homes with minimal disruption. Hardwired options are available when electrical access is feasible.
Lighting control replaces standard switches with intelligent systems that manage multiple circuits, color temperature, and intensity from keypads, apps, or automated scenes. It lets you program scenes such as Morning, Evening, or Entertaining that adjust many lights simultaneously.
Living With a Smart Home
We offer ongoing service and support for every system we install. Many issues can be resolved remotely without a site visit. For hardware concerns, we work directly with manufacturers to ensure warranty coverage is honored.
Yes. Remote access is a standard feature. You can monitor cameras, adjust lighting and climate, lock or unlock doors, and receive alerts from anywhere with an internet connection.
Absolutely. Lock-and-leave automation, remote monitoring, environmental hazard detection, and away scenes that simulate occupancy are valuable for seasonal and vacation properties, while the same features make daily life easier in year-round homes.
Professional automation systems are increasingly expected in luxury homes. Integrated lighting, security, and entertainment systems are strong selling features when they are properly documented and supported.
Yes. We provide service plans, remote support, and on-site service calls for every system we install. We also handle updates, expansions, and technology refreshes as needs evolve.
Getting Started
Schedule a consultation through our contact page or call (435) 615-1515. We will visit your home, discuss your goals, and provide a detailed proposal with clear pricing and timeline.
We assess architecture, existing infrastructure, and lifestyle habits. We ask how you use each space, what is frustrating about your current setup, and what you want technology to improve. You receive a detailed, itemized proposal within days.
In some cases, yes. We evaluate the existing system, documentation, and equipment to determine whether we can provide effective service. Proper documentation and quality hardware make this much more feasible.
