Lifestyle Electronics was founded in 1998 by Kevin Barnes with a clear mission: install powerful, reliable, and intuitive electronic systems custom-tailored to each client's needs. Not off-the-shelf packages. Not one-size-fits-all automation. Systems designed for the specific way a family lives in their home.
Before founding Lifestyle Electronics, Kevin spent five years as Executive Vice President at Arrowhead International, directing worldwide marketing, sales, and business development. He then served as Vice President at Vantage Controls Inc., a world leader in lighting control systems, where he met Taylor Syphus.
Taylor brought a complementary background: a bachelor's degree in journalism from Brigham Young University (1996) and an MBA from the Marriott School of Business (2009). At Vantage Controls, he served as Public Relations Manager before joining Kevin to lead Lifestyle Electronics.
Together, Kevin and Taylor have built a company focused on one principle: technology should work for you, not the other way around.
The best smart home isn't one that shows off its equipment. It's one where the equipment disappears and the experience remains: lights that are always right, music that follows you, security that protects without intruding, and a theater that feels like a private cinema.
If you need to reference instructions to turn on the lights, the system is wrong. We program interfaces that are intuitive, and we stay until you're comfortable using them.
A ski-in condo in Deer Valley has different requirements than a new construction in Promontory. A full-time residence needs different automation logic than a seasonal home in Tuhaye. We design for each property's architecture, lifestyle, and occupancy pattern.
Our clients call us years after installation to add a room, update a system, or troubleshoot a rare issue. We've been in Park City since 1998. We're not going anywhere.

We are certified integrators for Control4, Savant, and Crestron. We also work with Lutron, Vantage, and Basalte. We recommend the right platform for your home, not the one that pays the best commission.
Sony, Sonos, McIntosh, Sonus faber, Lutron, Vantage, and IC Realtime are among the manufacturers we rely on. We don't experiment with unproven equipment in client homes.

Kevin holds a BA in accounting and a graduate degree in economics from the University of Oregon. His blend of finance, leadership, and technical expertise produces systems that are sophisticated and cost-effective.
